OAXACA DE JUAREZ.

Teniamos muchas ganas de llegar a Oaxaca, la zona mas maulticultural y etnica del pais.
Cuando llegamos a la ciudad de Oaxaca de Juarez, nos fascinaron primero la hospitalidad via couchsurfing de Nery y su madre que nos cedieron un terreno donde acampar y disfrutar de su compania y segundo el colorido etnico y su increible gastronomia.
Esta ciudad ademas nos regalo la oportunidad de reecontrarnos con Jason y Marianna, quienes en enero 2015 nos habian alojado via couchsurfing en Darwin/Australia, ahora diez meses despues nos encontrabamos de nuevo cruzando nuestros caminos en esta ciudad que convertimos en especial.
Oaxaca, como es conocida popularmente, nos regalo un colorido abrumante entre sus edificios del centro colonial y una tranquilidad solo absorbida por el apetito hacia las tlayudas, tamales o chapulines o el sin fin de platillos servidos en cada calle y esquina, mientras dubitavas si tomar o no un nuevo trago de mezcal.

We arrived to Oaxaca de Juarez just in time for the celebrations of Dia de los Muertos, the mexican version of Halloween.

Here we met Jason and Marianna, a german-australian couple who hosted us  in Darwin, Australia several months before.

We camped in the backyard of  CS Neri on one of the hills with a beautiful view over the city.  We stayed at his place sharing the space and fun with many other CS, like fx Laurence and Sara, who later joined us for some time for other adventures in Mexico.

The city of Oaxaca is the capital of a state that shares the same name. It is one of the earliest regions of Mexico to be settled- first by the Olmecs, than by Zapotecs and in the end also by the Aztecs.

Now it´s mostly known for it´s colonial architecture. The streets of the old town are absolutely beautiful and the main square a perfect place to just sit down, relax in the shadow and watch people passing by.  The churches and the cemetries are so diverse (and there are so many), that you will probably never run of possibilities for sightseeing.

And there is a whole street with cheap ´all you can eat´ buffees which we obviously loved;)

Do Oaxaki de Juarex dotarlismy na czas, aby spedzic to Swieto Zmarlych. Spotkalismy sie tutaj z Jasonem i Marianna, niemiecko- australisjka para, ktora goscila nas w Darwin w Australii kilka miesiecy wczesniej. Zatrzymalismy sie pod namiotem w ogrodku Neriego z CS, ktory wraz z nami, mial calkiem pokazna grupe couchsurferow, kilkoro z nich, jak Sara i Laurence dolaczyli do nas na dluzej.

Miasto Oaxaca to stolica gorzystego, meksykanskiego stanu o tej samej nazwie. Jest to jeden z najdluzej zamieszkanych rejonow kraju, nazywany czesto kolebka meksykanskiej cywilizacji. Najpierw dotarli tu Olmekowie, pozniej Zapotecy a na koncu osiedlili sie tutaj rowniez Aztekowie.

Obecnie miasto slynie ze swej przepieknej i  bardzo dobrze zachowanej architektury kolonialnej. Rzeczywiscie, ulice centrum sa przepiekne, kolorowe an glowny ryneczek zacheca do odpoczynku w cieniu wielkich, starych drzew i obserwacji spacerujacych tlumow. Kosciolow i cmentarzy jest to tyle, ze nie zabraknie tu chyba nigdy obiektow do zwiedzania. Nasza ulubiona czescia byla jednak ulica tanich bufetow w stylu ¨wszystko co mozesz zjesc¨ ;)
