¡¡¡¡ ISTAMBUL !!!

ISTAMBUL....la increíble COSTANTINOPLA, la ciudad mas poblada de Europa(unos 13 millones de habitantes) y urbe transcontinental por hallarse entre Europa y Asia, es sin lugar a dudas una de las mas bellas ciudades de Europa.
Pues bien tras una noche en autobús desde Salónica y tras pagar nuestra visa en la frontera, nos encontrábamos al fin en Estambúl.
La ciudad impresiona por sus dimensiones, desde el momento en el que te adentras en ella. Es una ciudad occidentalizada, multicultural, una gran mezcla de etnias, culturas y religiones.

Istanbul changed a lot since the time I've visited the town- and it was more than 10 years ago... but the spirit of the town is still the same. It's a very cosmopolitic place, where different cultures meet and live together. If you are looking for a real oriental spot on the map Istanbul will not be the place. Off course you can find the parts of town that are culturally far away from our western world, but Istanbul is very modern. Everywhere you'll find cafees and bars full of people. The city reminds a living organism that never falls asleep. The streets are always full of people, the cars never stop passing by and the lights never go off. Each time we passed the long streets of city center we were amazed about how many people you just see passing by... how much movement there is.
Apart from breathing the atmosphere of this enormous city we also did some sightseeing. Off course we visited Hagia Sophia, a Byzantine churche then turne a Mosque which was a bit of dissapointement in comparing to what we've heard of it and after seeing the inside of the Blue Mosque. The whole old part of the city is full of surprizes, parts of the ancient city walls somwhere in a corner or byzantine mosaics covered by dust just on a side of a sidewalk.
Anyhow, the city overwhelms with it's majestic architecture, it's dimensions and the amount of people that pass you by all the time...

Szorcik: Wróciłam do Stambułu po ponad dziesięciu latach, aby stwierdzić że Stare Miasto pozostało bez zmian, natomiast reszta Stambułu stała się jeszcze bardziej nowoczesna niż to, jak ją zapamiętałam. Na próżno szukać tu typowej orientalnej atmosfery Maghrebu. Stambuł to miasto europejskie, pełne sklepów, galerii handlowych, nowoczesnych budynków. Oczywiście, oddalając się od centrum znaleźć można nostalgiczne pozostałości dawnych epok, ale charakter miasta przesiąknął już dawno nowoczesnością.
Oknami do historii miasta są zabytki, niezliczone meczety, Hagia Sofia, pałac i harem Sułtana. Prawdziwą atmosferę tworzą jednak bazary i ulice pełne ludzi- zawsze i o każdej porze ruchliwe ulice i niegasnące neony.
