Michael nos llevó a ver Seria( South East Reserved Industrial Area), considerada como el corazón petrolífero y de gas del país. Aquí se descubrió el oro negro allá por el 1929.
Aquí esta instalada la única refinería del país por la "Brunei Shell Petroleum" y paseando uno pude ver innumerables "nodding donkeys" que son las bombas de varillas encargadas de sustraer el petróleo de la tierra. Con tres movimientos saca lo suficiente para llenar un barril del dichoso petroleo. Hay unas 600 en todo el país, así que imaginaros la cantidad de petroleo que mueve Brunei.
Aquí ademas hay instalado un monumento que conmemora la "hazaña" de haber sacado 1 billon de barriles en el punto donde se descubrió el primer yacimiento.
Yo estaba alucinando de ver tantas bombas sacando petroleo por todos los lados y de observar de lejos la quema del gas en el refinería, era algo totalmente novedoso para nosotros.

It is one of the few places in the world where ou actually can see them working without any permission and take a really close look... The symbol of the township is the monument built in occasion of pumping the billionth barrel of crude oil in 1991.

Seria to jedno z niewielu miejsc na świecie, gdzie dostęp do pola naftowego jest tak łatwy... między żurawiami można się przechadzać, przyglądać... Symbolem miasta stał się pomnik wybudowany z okazji wydobycia bilionowej baryłki w 1991 roku.
