Annah Rais is one of the longhouse villages made by the local ethnies. People around Borneo have traditionally built whole villages as one house- called longhouse, where all the rooms/ apartaments were connected. In the center of the village they always kept skulls. The people who obtained the skulls gained an honour and respect from the villagers. The skull was then hanged underneath the roof, togheter with the other skulls... it would bring luck to the village as long as the locals gave special gifts to the spirits to keep them happy.
The people that we have visited in Annah Rais have decided to continue to live in the traditional way.

Dziś należy juz do rzadkości. Jej mieszkańcy zdecydowali się kontynuować tradycje, aby utrzymywać się z ruchu turystycznego.
Cała wioska to jeden 'longhouse', czyli długi dom.
