Teníamos la idea de alquilar una moto y recorrer durante dos días el Plateau de Bolaven (Meseta de Bolaven), pero la lluvia nos impidió realizar ese plan. Así que junto a Anna (inglesa) y Davy y Pierre (franceses) nos fuimos juntos en un coche con un local para poder recorrer sin problemas el dichoso Plateau.
Pasamos todo el día, recorrimos mas de 250km y pudimos contemplar las divinidades de este emplazamiento, donde abundan las plantaciones de café, de té o de pimienta. Los arrozales colorean a ambos lados la carretera, donde los pueblos rurales se dedican básicamente a la agricultura de supervivencia y la elaboración de textiles.Existen diferentes etnias a lo largo del Plateau, pero muchos lugares son mas que meras "atracciones" turísticas donde los nativos juegan un papel para ofrecer sus productos a los turistas que llegan a sus dominios.
Por otro lado visitamos numerosas cascadas, que en esta época de lluvias tienen sin duda una cantidad de agua asombrosa y una fuerza brutal. Las mas significativas fueron la de Tad Lo y la de Tade Fane.
Digamos que el Plateau de Bolaven es una enorme meseta elevada sobre el nivel del mar a unos 1000 o 1300 metros, donde la enorme cantidad de ríos que la atraviesan nos ofrecen un sin fin de cascadas y paisajes selváticos. Las tierras son muy fértiles y posee unas condiciones particulares que ofrecen a sus habitantes la posibilidad de tener plantaciones de té y sobre todo de café, además de las típicas tierras dedicadas a la plantación de arroz o diferentes verduras.
Plateau de Bolaven lays between the Annamite mountain chain and Mekong river. It got it's name after the Laven ethnic group, that was and still is the most spread in the region.
Plateau has (after the north of Laos) suffered from the most intense american bombings during the Vietnam War- the Americans dropped so many bombs in the country, that Laos still bears the name of the the most bombed in the history of the world.
Plateau Bolaven is full of beautiful waterfalls. There are so many of them- high, big and small...you'll find all of them here. The regions soil is also very good, which makes it perfect for agriculture. There are countless coffee, tea and pepper plantations here, which you can visit and try their produce.
Also, it is possible to meet the different ethnies living in the Plateau (Lavans Mon Khmers etc.). It is better to do it on your own rather then with an organised tour, which would only take you to the commercial spots with ethnic handicraft, without the possibility to actually interact with the people.

Płaskowyż pełen jest malowniczych wodospadów oraz niesamowitej roślinności. Region ten jest niezwykle płodny, a plantacje kawy, herbaty i pieprzu ciągną się tu kilometrami. Miejsce to, to także dom dla wielu dawnych plemion, jak Laven czy Mon Khmer. Można to odwiedzić etniczne wioski- najlepiej na własną rękę, bo zorganizowane wycieczki zabiorą nas wyłącznie w miejsca nastawione na sprzedaż etnicznych wyrobów w zawyżonych cenach, a na spotkanie z samymi mieszkańcami może niestety zabraknąć czasu...
