KATHAKALI

Estar en Kerala y no ir a ver Kathakali es un pecado. El Kathakali es teatro clásico, donde los actores narran leyendas hindúes,y donde todo el desarrollo de escenas es mediante un lenguaje complejo que mezcla danza (nrta), juegos de manos (mudras) y expresiones del rostro (navarasya)...

Es impresionante ver el tiempo que dedican a maquillarse y como pueden llegar a realizar tantos gestos con los músculos faciales y ojos.

Nosotros asistimos a una pequeña muestra de 1:30h  de tres actos, pues en realidad este tipo de obras dura toda una noche en los festivales y se desarrollan en los templos hinduistas.

Quede anonadado ante tal maravilloso descubrimiento......

In Kochi we went to see Kathakali- a form of indian theatre art. The art has it's origins in Kerala and in it's prasent state is dated for the 17^th century. It is a dance-drama where the actors are highly stylized. Both the precise gestures of the actors, the singing, the drumms, costumes and the make-up are art on their own. The strories (traditionally there are 101 classical stories) are told by the movements of the hands and body and the facial expressions. The actors learn their proffession for up to 10 years, the make up artists for about 4 years (each color and line means something different for the character that the make-up is made for). One play can last even 6-9 hours- we have seen only three acts with an introduction and really loved it.

Szorcik: W Kochi wybraliśmy się na przedstawienie południowoindyjskiej sztuki teatralnej, Kathakali, która wywodzi się z regionu Kerala. Swą obecną formę przybrało w XVIIw.

To sztuka oparta na tańcu, we wtórze muzyki bębnów i przy akompaniamencie śpiewu jednego narratora. Aktorzy przy pomocy stroju, makijarzu, ruchu ciała i przede wszystkim rąk, oczu i twarzy przekazują treść sztuki w sposób mocno przerysowany. Na każde słowo wyśpiewane przez narratora przypada kilka a nawet kilkanaście dokładnie wystudiowanych ruchów. Takie przedstawienie trwać może nawet 9 godzin. My obejrzeliśmy zaledwie mały, pótoragodzinny pokaz. Ważne jest tu wszystko- każdy ruch oka ma znaczenie. Zaskakujące jest, jak bliskie prawdziwej mimice ludzkiej są te przerysowane grymasy. Zarówno makijażyści, jak i aktorzy potrzebująwielu lat na naukę profesji... co nie dziwi po obejrzeniu tej ciekawej sztuki. Ja mam tylko nadzieję, że będę miała jeszcze kiedyś okazję przyjrzeć się bliżej tego typu teatrowi...
