KANDY Y SRI DALAWA MALIGAWA.....

Tras un intenso viaje en tren desde Colombo , al mas puro estilo "como sardinas en lata" llegábamos a Kandy, capital del Budismo.

Una ciudad animada gracias a su mercado municipal , pero que basa su actividad en las cercanías del lago y el famoso Templo del Diente de Buda "Sri Dalawa Maligawa", donde se guarda una de las preciadas reliquias del budismo: ¡el canino izquierdo para ser exactos!, esto atrae a la ciudad tanto a peregrinos como a turistas......Como anécdota, debo decir que ¡no pude entrar! pues iba en pantalón corto y camiseta de tirantes y "seguramente inquietara a la divinidad...". Esto solo me reafirmo mas en mi absoluta indiferencia hacia cualquier religión.

Pero Kandy no es solo budismo, es una ciudad abierta, gente hospitalaria y una ciudad agradable para recorrerla y disfrutarla.

Kandy is the second largest city in Sri Lanka. It is situated in the middle of the island. It is a busy city with many markets and colonial buildings. Kandy is mostly known for the Sri Dalawa Maligawa complex with the royal palace and the Tooth of Buddha relic. It  was indeed a nice place to visit, even though the tooth of Buddha was nowhere in sight:) The most interesting part was simply observing the pilgrims dooing their prayers. 
We also climed up the hill and visited the Sri Mahabodhi Maha Viharaya Temple on the hill top, where you have the view over the whole neighborhood almost from the Buddha head.

Szorcik: Kandy to drugie co do wielkości miasto Sri Lanki, położone w centrum kraju. Najważniejszym obiektem jest tu kompleks pałacowo- świątynny Sri Dalawa Maligawa z ważną dla buddystów relikwią: Zębem Buddy. Oprócz tego miasto pełne jest małych kolorowych targowisk i kolonialnych budynków. Warto również wejść na górę, z której rozpościera się widok na całe miasto oraz jezioro. Na wzgórzu znajduje się kolejna buddyjska świątynia z ogromnym posągiem Buddy czuwającym nad miastem.
