FURGONETA AZUL: 3 MESES EN TERRITORIO DE PANAMÁ.

Panamá fue nuestro hogar por 3 meses, aún recuerdo que cuando nos pusieron algunos problemillas en la frontera para entrar, pensé que no nos quedaríamos mucho tiempo. Me alegro de haberme equivocado.
Chiriquí tierra panameña para unos, tierra chiricana para otros fue el preludio de una estadía hermosas y duradera. Aquí nos recibió una hospitalidad que ya no nos abandonaría por tres largos y emocionantes meses.
Durante nuestro periplo entre Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Ciudad de Panamá, Portobello y nuestro amada Jaqué en los confines del Darién, innumerables son los recuerdos que atesoran mi alma.
Panamá ha dejado una huella imborrable en nosotros, un lugar al que retornar debe ser una obligación.
Jaqué es la estrella de este firmamento terrestre que pudimos recorrer, donde el alma y la vida se quedaron para siempre, un lugar y unas gentes que viajan con nosotros.
No puedo mas que agradecer cada instante compartido con cada uno de aquellos que nos regalaron tanto a cambio de nada.......

Before visiting Panama I had really no idea what to espect. It´s not a very known destination, and apart from the channel, hats and papers, there is not much you hear about the country. Also, most backpackers just quickly pass the country because it´s rather on the expensive side..
Panama was a great surprize- we loved it!It´s a very modern country with so much connection to the past- incredible, especially considering how young the nation is. Even the huge american influence didn´t distroy the roots of the local culture. I saw people proud of who they are and of the beautiful place they live in.
I am sure that it helped to have dear friends here that made it possible for us to enjoy the country slowly and without stressing about accomodations or food. In them we also found great guides to Panamas history, culture and politics- Thank you so much for that Nellys, Amilcar, Esther, Magdalena, Michelle, Beatriz, Rick, Papito and all the others!
I would definately want to go back and see and enjoy much more of Panama in the future. Once again I am leaving a place with a feeling that there is so much more to explore!
Panama is so diverse- from the caribbean beaches of Bocas de Toro, to the green, cold hills of Chiriqui, from the amazing capital to the faraway jungles of Darien, from the beaches at the Pacific ocean to the Kuna territory that we missed on visiting....

O Panamie slyszalam wczesniej zaledwie w powiazaniu z historia kanalu, mowiac o slynnych lokalnych kapeluszach oraz mniej chlubnej historii z papierami.... Czesto podrozujac ma sie jakas wizje miejsca, do ktorego sie udajemy- czasem zgodna z prawda, czasem zupelnie odlegla od rzeczywistosci. W przypadku Panamy nie mialam w glowie zadnych stereotypow, na ktorych moglabym oprzec swoje oczekiwania. Nawet relacje innych podroznikow nie pomagaly, bo wiekszosc przez Paname po prostu przemykala, uciekajac przed wysokimi cenami.
W tym przypadku nie mozna mowic wiec nawet o zaskoczeniu- Panama po prostu mnie zauroczyla.
To prawda,kraj jest bardzo nowoczesny i nieco drogi, ale mimo ze jako panstwo liczy sobie niewiele lat, jego mieszkancy zdolali zbudowac niezwykle poczucie jednosci, dume z powodu tego kim sa i w jak pieknym miejscu mieszkaja. Panama to twor najnowszej historii, ale zamieszkali tu ludzie zachowuja swe bogate zwyczaje- dodajac kolorytu narodowej roznorodnosci. Panama to prawdziwy wielokulturowy tygiel, przynoszacy mi na mysl Malezje. Sa tu plemiona rdzenne, nadal pieczolowicie kultywujace swe zwyczaje. Duza czesc spoleczenstwa ma w sobie krew Hiszpanskich kolonizatorow, sporo tu Kolumbijczykow (starej i nowej emigracji) oraz Wenezuelczykow. Budowa kanalu dodala tez sporo do etnicznego dobrobytu: sa tu potomkowie Amerykanow, Francuzow i innych Europejczykow (w tym Polakow!) oraz Azjatow- przede wszystkim Chinczykow. Jest wreszcie czarnoskora ludnosc Karibow i wybrzeza Pacyfiku.
Panama jest zroznicowana rowniez pod wzgledem krajobrazow- sa tu zimne stoki gorskie Chiriqui, gdzie w wulkanicznej ziemi hoduje sie warzywa. Sa plaze pacyfiku i Karaibow. Miasto Panama czaruje mieszanka nowoczesnosci i historii. Jest terytorium Indian Kuna, ktorego tym razem nie udalo nam sie odwiedzic i jest dziewicza dzungla przesmyku oraz Darien- dzikie i odlegle. Fauna i flora sa bogate i rownie roznorodne....
Po raz kolejny wiec opuscilismy nowopoznane miejsce z poczuciem niedosytu i zamiarem powrotu.

FOOD/ COMIDA/ JEDZENIE

The food is similar to what you find in Costa Rica or Colombia. Rice and beans are the basic but if you love fried plantains as much as we do, you won´t be disappointed;) Also, the corn tortillas from Panama are pure heaven! they actually look more like arepas, but are ofet eaten fried and are cruchy on the outside and delicate on the inside. We also made a tasty discovery here: bollos, corn tough boiled in banana leaves, sometimes mixed with coco. Yummmm!!!

W Panamie je sie podobnie, jak u sasiadow w Kostaryce czy Kolumbii. Podstawa diety to ryz z fasola, przy czym dostepne sa rozne rodzaje fasoli- jest w czym wybierac! Podstawa naszej diety byly tutaj smazone platany- tzw patacones (frytki schowajcie sie;) ). Panamenczykom swietnie wychodza kukurydziane tortille! Sa one grube jak poludniowoamerykanskie arepas, zolciutkie, chrupiace na zewnatrz i niezwykle delikatne w srodku. Moim odkryciem byly bollos- masa kukurydziana gotowana w lisciach banana, czasem po zmieszaniu z kokosem. Taka uboga wersja tamales- ale przepyszna, szczegolnie podpieczona na patelni!

TRANSPORT

SLEEP/ DORMIR/ NOCLEGI

We only paid for accomodation twice- first time for a tent in Bocas and the second, for three nights at a hostel in Panama City (overrated, expensive, overcrowded and infected with bedbugs: do not recommend Luna´s Castle). We were lucky enouch to have our beautiful friends to offer us a place to stay- otherwise accomodation can be pricey in Panama- probably the most expensive part of travelling around here.

Za noclegi placilismy tylko dwa razy- raz spalismy pod namiotem, pozniej spedzilismy trzy noce w hostelu w Panamie- drogim, zatloczonym i zapluskwionym. Noclegi to chyba najdrozszy wydatek jesli chodzi o podrozowanie po Panamie, wiec naprawde jestesmy wdziedzni losowi za wspanialych przyjaciol i ich cztery sciany:)
