Cuando estando aquí en Taiwan supimos que la ciudad de Danshui o Tamsui fue colonia española, la intriga nos llevo a ir a conocerla.
Esta ciudad situada a menos de una hora de Taipei y asentada en la costa nos ofreció la posibilidad de disfrutar de un tranquilo día caminando por los muelles o las calles mas representativas, mientras degustábamos platos típicos o simplemente nos perdíamos en ella.
Visitamos la fortaleza de Santo Domingo un edificio que aún se conserva de la época colonial española del siglo XVII que duro mas bien poco del 1629 al 1641 cuando los holandeses se hicieron con el control de la misma. Esta pequeña ciudad, llena de historia es a día de hoy un centro pesquero y turístico.
Por otro lado Yi -Lang y su marido nos invitaron a un paseo y a tomar algo en uno de los numerosos bares que se asientan en la costa de Repulse Bay, una zona donde la gente viene a disfrutar de las playas, de la gastronomía o simplemente a escapar del ajetreo de Taipei.
Tamsui (or Danshui) is a small city on the outskirts of Taipei. In the beginning of the 17th century it has been settled by the spanish mission of Santo Domingo that soon got taken over by the Dutchmen, who built Fort Anthonio, that stays the main tourist attraction of the zone, today known as Hongmao Castle. The city is located at Tamsui river, which made it the largest taiwanese port for a long time, with the culmination at the end of the 19th century.
When you finish your visit at the fort, thenext best thing to do in Tamsui is a stroll at the waterfront and along the mainstreet full of small shops with souvenirs and some really goooood local dishes!
On the way to Tamsui there are many lovely beaches, one of them is Yi-Lan and Tom's favorite place to go on sunday afternoons... which we off course did, and loved:)

W XVII w osiedlili się tutaj Hiszpanie a zaraz po nich Holendrzy- do dziś śladem po ich obecności jest fort Anthonio, znany dziś jako Hongmao Castle. Tamsui to także ruchliwe handlowe ulice, gdzie kupić można wszystko- od upominków, poprzez wiklinowe koszyki aż po rewelacyjne uliczne jedzenie. A na trawienie smakołyków najlepszy jest spacer po nadrzecznej promenadzie!
Gdzieś pomiędzy Tamsui a Taipei znajduje się ulubiona plaża naszych hostów- i to właśnie tam pożegnaliśmy się z Tajwanem.
