Llevaba tanto tiempo soñando con recorrer sus calles , que de un golpe me vi allí atónito ante todo lo que la ciudad me ofrecía, de pronto me vi paseando por una ciudad convertida en museo, estaba ante una de las grandes ciudades de la historia, ante una enciclopedia de tres milenios.
Roma nos ofrecía plazas a cada cual mas impresionante, nos regalaba fuentes y obeliscos, nos acogía en sus barrios mas dispares y sobretodo nos balanceaba de un lado a otro para que no pudiéramos dejarnos nada sin ver.
Estábamos en la Ciudad Eterna........y eterno será mi recuerdo.
VENI, VIDI, VICI
Rome is full of history and "must see" sites. Everywhere you go, you find (because you was searching or despite you was not searching at all). At some point we weren't even checking what we are looking at- just to much good for the two short days.
But off course we have visited the most important turist sites- and I must say that the city is incredibly beautiful. If there is one city you MUST to go to in your lifetime- for sure it is Rome.
The Pantheon, Trajan's Market, Forum Romanum, The Capitoline Hill... all the remains of the roman civilation just take your breath away- even though sometimes it is necesary to use your imagination to see how it looked like before, still you are lef with an incredble impression of beeing as near to the history as one possibly can be.
Also the 'new' monuments are interesting ang fit perfectly in the ancien atmosphere of the city- like fx the National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II or "Il Vittoriano" - a monument built in honour of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy. The monument holds the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame, built under the statue of Italy after World War I.
A very important place in the city lanscape are the many squares like Piazza Venezia, Piazza del Popolo or Piazza Navona, where you can observe the everydaylife of the ramanians mixed with the countless tourists that visit the town. And last but not least- the Spanish Steps- a absolut must on the sightseeing list.
Szorcik: Absolutnie niemożliwe jest zwiedzenie całego Rzymu w jeden weekend, ale naprawde udało nam się zobaczyć wiele. Przede wszystkim wszystkie antyczne zabytki jak Panteon, Forum Romanum czy wzgórze Kapitolu. Czasami trzeba wysilić wyobraźnię aby zobaczyć w pełni monumentalność i ogrom włożonej pracy tych wiekowych budowli, ale wszystko razem- skupione na tak małej powierzchni sprawia, że Rzym jest miastem które absolutnie trzeba odwiedzić. Również te nowsze zabytki robią niezwykłe wrażenie- np Vittoriano, pałac wybudowany na cześć pierwszego króla zjednoczonych Włoch- Victora Emanuela. Warto wspomnieć też niezliczone place, tętniące życiem i zawsze pełne- zarówno turystów jak i tubylców. No i oczywiście Schody Hiszpańskie, których nie mogliśmy pominąć;)
