EL PAÍS MAS PEQUEÑO DEL MUNDO....CIUDAD DEL VATICANO!

Dentro de nuestro fin de semana a Roma, tropezamos con este microestado , uno de los pocos que aún no habíamos visitado....se trata de Estado de la Ciudad del Vaticano.

Como bien es sabido la Ciudad del Vaticano alberga la Santa Sede, máxima institución de la iglesia Católica, su máxima autoridad es el Papa y por tanto un territorio bajo una teocracia.

Recorrimos la plaza de San Pedro y contemplamos la basílica del mismo nombre, nos mezclamos entre los innumerables turistas y religiosos que se entrecruzaban de una forma casi al 50%.

Me llamó mucho la atención ver que tenían su propia oficina postal y que el idioma oficial fuera el Latín.....

Stato della Città del Vaticano alias Vatican City, the smallest country in the world (only 44 hectares and about 800 citizens) is a strange creation. I don't really like the idea of confessional states, and Vatican goes even further beyond than that. With its history of political engagement of religious affairs, embezzlements, felonies and power struggles, Vatican is probably the most criminal of all the countries (probably). And in the middle of all that you find the real architectonic beauty of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica (unfortunately only seen from outside).  The Vatican City is home to some of the best artwork and architecture in Italy.The 17th century St Peter's Square is an incredible example of baroc architecture. And Vatican is also where our quick trip to Rome has started.

Szorcik: Nasze Rzymskie wakacje zaczęły się od wizyty w Watykanie, najmniejszym państwie świata (44 ha). Watykan- symbol politycznych aspiracji Kościoła Katolickiego i jego walki o władzę, to również miejsce gdzie na niezwykle małej powierzchni zgromadzono niesamowitą ilość dzieł sztuki. Również architektura zapiera dech w piersiach. Niestety, z braku czasu nie było nam dane odwiedzić Kaplicy Sykstyńskiej ani Muzeów Watykańskich. Szkoda...
