PARAPAT- VOLUNTARIOS EN UNA PLANTACIÓN.

Siempre agradeceré haber llegado hasta este lugar y haberme encontrado a una familia tan gentil y hospitalaria.
La historia era que íbamos a pasar una semana en una plantación de árboles frutales y palmeras de aceite haciendo trabajos voluntarios. La granja se encontraba en un lugar recóndito, entre colinas, bordeado por el océano y un río de color chocolate.
En este lugar nos abrieron las puertas de sus vidas VINCENT y ANNA, un pareja de origen indio que había decidido cuando se jubilaron comprar estos terrenos y abandonar la vida anterior, dedicarse a vivir en el campo, sin electricidad y disfrutar de la tranquilidad tras una vida en la ciudad de Kula Lumpur.
Fueron unos días donde Marta y yo hicimos limpieza del terreno y podamos los árboles frutales, pero sobretodo disfrutamos de la vida en aquel lugar junto a una familia encantadora.
Anna no paraba de cocinarnos los mejores manjares de la comida tradicional india, Vincent estaba siempre atento y agradecido a todo lo que hacíamos y como premio, teníamos que cuidar de sus nietas, dos mellizas, AMBER Y CRYSTAL que robaron literalmente nuestros corazones, sus sonrisas y sus voces tan amigables provocaban en nosotros amor.
Los días aquí transcurrían a un ritmo tranquilo, por las mañanas desayunábamos con la salida del Sol, para después trabajar un poco hasta la comida, por la tarde tras un descanso trabajábamos unas horas mas hasta que junto con los obreros que allí viven acabábamos la jornada entre unos tés y plátanos fritos.
Aquí disfruté de aprender sobre árboles frutales como mangos, aguacates, papayas y varias e interesantes variedades de bananeros. Ademas habían dos grandes plantaciones de piñas que acompañaban al recurso principal del lugar, la plantación de las palmas de aceite. 
También había una gran superficie que Vincent no había cultivado y había decidido dejarla virgen, era una parte de selva mezclada con manglares a orillas del río, a la cual nos invito a visitar junto a un guía el penúltimo día.

Vincent and Anna are a couple in their sixties, who had a dream to live in the malay countryside, in Borneo and have a palm tree plantation. They are now making their dream come true and we were honoured to take part in that. For a week we worked as volouteers in their plantation in the small village lost in the middle of nowhere on a hill with the most beautifull views, where the sun rises from the sea and finishes it's trip hiding behind the mountains. We got to clean the garden around the house and plant and prune some plants. In return we recieved a real home and lots of love. Anna and Vincent are the most wonderful, generous, caring and kind people. Anna spoiled us with her five star indian cuisine- and I still can't stop thinking about these amazing dishes...homemade dosas and idly and curries... Hector also still didn't succeed in his search of fried bananas that would taste at least half as good as these made by Anna. Our whole stay in Parapat will always be a highly cherished memory and we do hope to meet these beautiful people again. 
There were two highlights of the week in the plantation. Their names are Amber and Crystal, they are five years old and are granddaughters of Anna and Vincent. They made each and every moment even more special for us. They made us laugh, they helped us in the garden and stole our hearts completely (aswell as half of our bed:)).

Nasze ostatnie dni na Borneo spędziliśmy na plantacji palmowej Vincent i Anny, dla których zamieszkanie na wsi było największym życiowym marzeniem, a my mieliśmy zaszczyt odrobinę im w tym pomóc. Nasza praca ograniczała się do oczyszczenia przydomowego ogródka oraz przycięcia drzew owocowych. W zamian za to otrzymaliśmy więcej niż mogliśmy zamarzyć. Vincent i Anna to cudowne, dobroduszne, ciepłe osoby. Otwierając dla nas swój dom uczynili nas członkami swojej rodziny. Anna nie wychodziła z kuchni, przygotowując coraz to smakowitsze potrawy, pachnące przyprawami curry, moje ukochane idly i dosa oraz smażone banany w których Hector się zakochał bez pamięci. Nie bez znaczenia były też widoki. Dom znajdował się na wzgórzu z którego codziennie rano oglądać można było wschód słońca nad morzem oraz koniec jego wędrówki po nieboskłonie za górami porośniętymi dżunglą. 
Prawdziwymi gwiazdami naszego pobytu w Parapat były jednak bliźniaczki- wnuczki naszych gospodarzy: Amber i Crystal. Te pełne życia pięciolatki nie odstępowały nas ani na chwilę, opowiadając o swoich przygodach, rodzinie, codziennym życiu oraz pomagając nam sadzić owocowe drzewa.
