'STRAYA MATE!! 6 MESES VIVIENDO EN AUSTRALIA.

Cuando aterricé en Darwin el 12 de enero del 2015 no imaginaba ni por asomo que Australia se convertiría en nuestro hogar durante seis meses. Verano, Otoño e Invierno de colores australes nos han regalado infinidad de emociones y anécdotas.
Este vasto país(el sexto del planeta) no sabía por donde cogerlo al principio, hacía donde ir o que rumbo coger para encontrar trabajo y aventuras, pero todo estaba en el camino ese, que se llama libertad. Y fue la libertad de ir hacia el este(cuando el plan era ir al oeste) la que nos dio sin saberlo una hoja de ruta perfecta, de viaje, amigos y trabajo.
En cada punto del viaje hemos encontrado alguien que nos ha abierto las puertas de su hogar y nos ha ayudado a seguir trazando una estancia maravillosa en estas tierras del hemisferio sur. Muchas han sido las ciudades o poblaciones que hemos visitado en los estados de North Territories, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania o South Australia y en cada una hay un nombre escrito en mayúsculas que nos ha ofrecido su hospitalidad y generosidad.
'STRAYA(como los pronuncian los australianos), se convirtió así, de la noche a la mañana en un país que nos ofrecía la oportunidad de exprimirlo al máximo.
Australia me ha dado la oportunidad de ver las noches estrelladas mas impactantes de mi vida, sobre todo en Tasmania, me ha introducido a callejear en ciudades creativas y multiculturales, me o nos ha dado los amaneceres y atardeceres mas hermosos que jamas he visto, me ha regalado playas de surf y de colores delirantes, mis manos has cogido la mayor cantidad de frutas de toda mi vida, me ha puesto una sonrisa constante entre canguros, koalas, wallabies y hasta ornitorrincos, he surcado bosques, desiertos ,ríos y mares, he buceado a las entrañas de la barrera de coral y he pasado calor y frío, y todo eso, lo he disfrutado junto a gente que a día de hoy son mis amigos y que han hecho que seis meses fueran la vivencia de toda una vida.
Muchos rostros recorren mi mente mientras escribo estas palabras, tantos, que tuve que dejar un trozo de mi en estas tierras australes, para al menos compensar toda esa gratitud que siento por cada momento vivido aquí. He llorado en muchas despedidas y a la vez reído con la promesa de reencontrarnos, pero la magia de haberos conocido ya vive en mi para siempre.
No puedo imaginar que sería de este viaje sin este fructífero paso por Australia, tan fructífero como sano y tan sano como espiritual. Aquí en estas tierras arrebatadas a sus habitantes nativos, los aborígenes, se me ha presentado la oportunidad de ver la vida como ellos, de contemplar la vida en dos formas de tiempo paralelas, una, la actividad diaria y otra, EL CICLO INFINITO ESPIRITUAL LLAMADO EL "TIEMPO DEL SUEÑO", MAS REAL QUE LA REALIDAD MISMA.

THANKS TO EVERYBODY FOR MAKING MY TIME IN AUSTRALIA SO AWESOME!

I guess we are Aussies now... at least in our hearts, because the 6 months spent in Australia made us love this country! We love the laidback attitude of the people and we love the kindness and the never disappearing smiles on the faces!
Australians are fun, open and always helpfull and the landscapes amazing- although long drives with the same view for hours can get a bit boring:)
There are so many things to see and do, but Australia is huuuge, so we had to make some choises... Looking at the map we have the feeling that we didn't see nothing, but only someone who travelled around this continent knows how big the distances are... You can be driving for a day and still when you put the itinerary on the map it looks like nothing!
Australia has so much to offer for adventure hungry tourists, but of course- it's not cheap! Instead we focused on ejoying the beauty of the nature- so different in the different parts of the continent- from tropical rainforests to snow covered mountains in the alpine region, from the deserts to swamps in the north. Everything is there- from the crazy heat and heavy, humid air to cold winters in the south where you won't survive without a warm blanket!
We just loved our Straya, and we surely do miss it- especially those wonderfull friends of ours that we will always associate with good time and laughter! Love you Hayley, Jordi, Danger & co.
Yeps... we really made some good memories in Australia, thanks to all the woderful hosts at CS and all the crazy people we met on our way (the french team: Willy, Antoine,Julien,Tom, Alan, Roxanne and all the others: Jasmine, Joan, Azzurra, Elia, Kebrap, Sam, Abraham and so many, many more!)

6 miesięcy to całkiem spory kawała czasu- a w przypadku naszego pobytu w Australii był to czas spędzony rewelacyjnie. Mimo okresów ciężkiej pracy, bawiliśmy się świetnie- każdego dnia! Australijczycy to w większości wspaniali ludzie, zawsze chętni do pomocy, uprzejmi, zawsze uśmiechnięci a ich wyluzowane podejście do życia bardzo nam przypadło do gustu.
Australia tania nie jest, ale udało nam się przetrwać nie rujnując budżetu- możliwe jest tu tanie podróżowanie, tylko trzeba trochę pokombinować- my wydawaliśmy tu mniej niż w kilku nieco tańszych regionach świata (średnia dzienna)! Na każdym kroku czekają tu niesamowite atrakcje na rządnego wrażeń turystę- niestety musieliśmy wybierać tańsze opcje (co nie oznacza gorsze)- dlatego np zrezygnowaliśmy z podróży do bardzo odległego i mocno turystycznego Uluru, w zamian za to skupiliśmy się na bliżej położonych wyludnionych australijskiego outbacku- krajobrazy te same, tylko wielkiej skały brak...
Patrząc na mapę naszej podróży po kontynencie mamy wrażenie, że nie byliśmy prawie nigdzie, ale tylko ktoś, kto po Australii podróżował, może zdać sobie sprawę z ogromnych odległości do pokonania. To co na mapie wygląda na zaledwie kilka centymetrów, tak naprawdę oznacza wiele godzin jazdy, często po drogach wzdłuż których nie ma NIC!
Udało nam się jednak odwiedzić wszystkie strefy klimatyczne i doświadczyć zarówno suszy czy ciężkiego, tropikalnego powietrza, jak i przenikającego zimowego mrozu na południu. Widzieliśmy deszczowe lasy, tropikalne dżungle, mokradła, góry, wodospady, wspaniałe plaże, lasy, pustynie i wielkie połacie australijskich prerii. Oczywiście pozostał niedosyt- chcielibyśmy powłóczyć się po zachodniej części kraju- ale to następnym razem:)
Z drugiej strony jednak wiemy, że dobrze wykorzystaliśmy czas spędzony w Australii. Zasmakowaliśmy nie tylko podróżniczych przygód, ale również australijskiej codzienności- małomiejskiego spokoju i wielkomiejskiego highlifeu. Przede wszystkim jednak dodaliśmy całą masę wspaniałych przyjaciół do naszej listy ludzi, za którymi tęsknimy!

FOOD/COMIDA/JEDZENIE

You already heard that- Australia is expensive, but doesn't have to be! Shopping at ALDI, not eating out and using public facilities for cooking can prevent the low budget from skyrocketing!

Australia jest droga- w szczególności świeże warzywa i owoce, ale przy pomocy kilku sztuczek, można ocalić budżet. Zakupy robi się przede wszystkim w najtańszym ze wszystkich marketów-ALDI, lub w spożywczych outletach (w dużych miastach), unika się jedzenia na mieście, a posiłki przygotowuje na wszechobecnych elektrycznych grillach!

Aussies love their barbacues- the electric ones are everywhere/ Australijczycy uwielbiają grillować, co widać po ilości darmowych elektrycznych grilli, ustawionych gęsto we wszystkich publicznych miejscach- miejskich parkach, plażach, nad jeziorami/ Las barbacoas son una parte importante de la cultura culinaria de Australia- las barbacoas eléctricas (gratuitas) se encuentran en todos los parques, playas y lagos.

homemade meals are the best (and the cheapest), and it's impossible to count how many paellas Hector made for our friends and CS hosts/ wiadomo, że najtaniej i najsmaczniej gotować samemu- nie jesteśmy chyba w stanie policzyć ile paelli Hector przygotował dla naszych przyjaciół i CS/ las comidas caseras son las mas baratas y las mejores- imposible de contar cuantas paellas Héctor ha hecho para los amigos!

Aussie specialities: vegemite and meat pies; and Burger King is called Hungry Jack's (not that we would care:))/ australijskie specjały: tost z vegemite (o gustach i smakach się nie dyskutuje:)) i ciasta męsne; a Burger King to Hungry Jacks (nie żeby nas to bardzo interesowałao- to tylko taka ciekawostka:))/ las especialidades australianas: tostada con vegemite y pasteles de carne.

ACCOMODATION/ ALOJAMIENTOS/ NOCLEGI

The accomodations are not cheap either, that's why we only stayed at a hostel once. Couchsurfing works well, so we did use it a lot, and camping is usually the cheapest option, sometimes it's even free.

Oczywiście ceny noclegów potrafią powalić z nóg (a płacić trzeba za wszystko, np 5AUD za godzinę słabo działającego internetu). W hostelu spaliśmy tylko raz, ale za to CS działa tutaj świetnie. Dodatkowo jest opcja namiotowa. Ceny kampingów bywają różne, ale najtaniej to ok 10AUD za osobę (Tasmania bywa tańsza). Są jednak darmowe kampingi (można je znaleźć w internecie oraz za pomocą specjalnej aplikacji), często mające nawt toalety. Jest też opcja biwakowania na dziko, ale ciiii....

CS

TRANSPORT

Sometimes it's necesary to fly- cheap flights exist, but trips to some parts of the country are much more expensive than the international flights. Last minute options for train can help with keeping the budget low. Otherwise- local buses and rental cars can be ok and off course...hitchhiking is free:)

Krajowe loty są czasem konieczne- mogą być tanie, ale często są wręcz droższe od lotów międzynarodowych... godziny poszukiwań na wyszukiwarkach lotów mogą jednak zdziałać cuda. Drogie zazwyczaj pociągi, pół godziny przed odjazdem ze stacji, często oferują bilety last minute za pół ceny. Są też lokalne autobusy (im dłuższy dystans, tym taniej, co oznacza że za 200 km można zapłacić tyle samo co za 20!) a ceny wynajmu samochodów przez internet mogą też być atrakcyjne. No i jest też całkiem darmowy autostop:)
