La comuna de Sinnamary es una población tranquila situada a la orilla del río del cual prende su nombre. Originariamente fue un asentamiento "amerindio", pero tras la llegada de los colonos franceses y su transformación en centro penitenciario dio como resultado lo que hoy es Sinnamary. Aquí conviven creoles, amerindios, indonesios, metropolitanos y poblaciones de los países circundantes, un mestizaje curioso y tranquilo, como las aguas del río que lo acompañan. Las puestas de sol son espectaculares.
A escasos 10 kilómtros de Sinnamary está el corazón de "Marais de YiYi" unas marismas llenas de hermosura y vida. Si la riqueza botánica te absorbe, la cantidad de animales observables te alucinará.
Las aves son las protagonistas sobre las marismas, donde los caimanes conviven con las anacondas y donde es imposible no cruzarse con monos saimairi o ardilla saltado en grupos de árbol en árbol.
Estas marismas son perfectas para observar aves y recrearse sobre un kayak y perder la vista mas allá de la marismas, de la sabana. Sin embargo tu mayor compañero de aventuras serán los mosquitos, que te provocaran picaduras y risas a partes iguales...

A big part of Guiana are marshes and mangroves. Guiana is a land covered with water- but these marshlands are also home to hundreds of species of animals and are a real paradise for the birds.
Situated halfway between the regions two most important cities: Cayenne and St.Laurent, Pri Pri de Yi Yi (The Yiyi Marshlands) are a wonderful place to visit if you´re up to have a calm day watching burds and discovering the wildlife of the land of water. (If you go...please don´t forget to bring your repellent and long sleeved clothes.... it´s also a mosquito paradise, especially at dusk and dawn).
We have spent a whole day there with our friend Tobias. We had a kayak to our disposition... which made the trip even more exciting! And we got to see the most beautiful clouds forming over our heads (but the rain was short and not very heavy).
Yiyi mrshland is just 10 km from Sinnamary, a lovely small city at the banks of Sinnamary river, where we had our pick nick while watching the sunset.

Duża część Gujany pokryta jest wodą. Pełno tu lasów namorzynowych oraz bagien. Klimat ten jest niezbyt przyjazny człowiekowi, za to idealny dla setek gatunków zwierząt. Poza tym ten ekosystem pełni ważną rolę w oczyszczaniu wody morskiej, zmieniając ją w wodę słodką.
PriPri de YiYi czyli moczary Yi Yi to wielkie moczary rozciągające się wiele kilometrów w połowie drogi między najwoekszymi gujańskimi metropoliami: Cayenne i St. Laurent.
To prawdziwy raj dla ornitologów. Mieszkaja tu niezliczone gatunki lokalnych ptaków, a pięknie przygotowana trasa piesza po moczarach uwzględnia kilka profesjonalnych punktów obserwacyjnych dla miłośników ptaków.
Spędziliśmy tutaj cały dzień. Mieliśmy do naszej dyspozycji wypożyczony kajak, więc mogliśmy się poruszać także po wodzie obserwując gromadzące się nad naszymi głowami gęste deszczowe chmury (które zaowocowały zaledwie krótką ulewą ). Jedynym minusem były komary, które po południu skutecznie nas przegoniły z moczar.
Moczary oddalone są zaledwie 10km od miasteczka Sinnamary, położonego nad rzeką o tej samej nazwie. Po krótkim spacerze jego ulicami urządziliśmy sobie piknik nad rzeką w promieniach zachodzącego słońca.
